The Elenian Pantheon

Elessa: The Goddess of love and beauty is by far the most revered deity in the nation of Elene. Young romantics compose songs and poems in adoration of the Smiling Goddess, while the older folk praise her for things as simple and evocative as a sunset on a autumn day. Legend tells that long ago, Elessa was once a beautiful young woman who sacrificed her own life to save that of her beloved and thereby attained divinity.

Valuren: The God of battle, martial skill and chivalry is the patron deity of knights and warriors. Soldiers in the Elenian army often carry Valuren's sigil alongside the Elenian Unicorn into battle and sing hymns to him as the enemy is engaged. Valuren rewards those who fight and die with honor on the field, and punishes the cowardly and unmerciful. It was Valuren who set down the knightly code to the first knight of Elene, and this code survives among the knighthood to this day. Valuren is said to be a paramour of Elessa.

Berandel : The Goddess of agriculture, time and renewal is popular among the peasantry of Elene. Each spring, a festival takes place in every village whereby offerings of food and drink are given in return for a bountiful harvest. It is also widely known that children are often conceived during these festivals, which also falls under Berandel's aspect of renewal.

Sabine: The Goddess of illusion, secrets and death is usually only invoked during funerals, however it is rumored that a cult specifically focusing on Sabine exists in secret. It is Sabine who guides departed souls to their next life. It is also said that Sabine vies with Elessa for Valuren's affections.

Zorand: The God of magic, knowledge and history is the patron deity of mages and historians. It is Zorand who guides the seeker to understanding and wisdom, and it is Zorand who rewards diligence with inspiration. It is said that Zorand has bestowed special favor upon the most recent leader of the Mage's Council, granting him powers beyond that of normal ken.
